Courage, Devotion, and Endurance

Could I Have Been a Pioneer was written when I was thinking about all the pioneers and what they had done for us. I wondered if I could have possibly went through all that they went through and still remain faithful and true.

President Dieter F. Uchdorf has said that “More than a century has passed since tens of thousands of pioneers sailed across oceans to heed a prophet’s call to gather to Zion. They left family and friends; they pulled handcarts across the plains; they grew a city out of a desert. Most important, the pioneers left a legacy of perseverance, faith, and sacrifice,” and then quoting President Thomas S. Monson, President Uchdorf reiterated that “Today most members are not asked to make the same physical sacrifices as the pioneers, but Saints in every nation can be pioneers as they meet suffering with courage, inspire faith in others, and do hard things that are necessary to gain eternal salvation and build the kingdom of God on earth (“Pioneers All,” Ensign, May 1997, 93).

Could I Have Been a Pioneer?
Could I have such faith to travel those many miles?
Could I have such faith to endure all those trials?
Could I have done all that they did and sacrifice so much?
Could I have been among the pioneers and such?
I don’t know if I could have done all that God asked.
I don’t know if I could handle such a task.
I don’t know if I could have pulled a handcart and load it with all that I had.
I don’t know if I could have given up nearly as much as they did.
I don’t know if I could have had the courage and faith I’d need
To try to cross the plains, not knowing whether I’d succeed.
I don’t quite know if my faith would suffice.
I don’t know if I could willingly give up my life.
I don’t know if I could have faced all those fears.
Could I have been a pioneer?

Though, I wondered then, I know now, that I can be a pioneer today. I can have courage and I can have faith as I strive to remember the covenants that I have made and to be a good example to those around me. Like the pioneers or old, I have to have courage today to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.  I believe that traits of the pioneers such as humility, faith, devotion, courage, endurance, and sacrifice are just as needed now to be Christ’s disciples as they were in the days of the handcarts. I know that if I strive to be like Jesus Christ and willingly keep His commandments, I can also be a pioneer and I can lead the way for others who will follow. I would like to add as an answer to my questions, my testimony of the answers that I have since received. I thought it would be appropriate to add this as a conclusion, and the final lines, if you will, to my poem, Could I Have Been a Pioneer?
To be a pioneer, I must have faith to walk the Lord’s way many miles,
And I know I must have faith to endure all of my trials.
I know I have to sacrifice much,
So I can be among the modern- day pioneers and such.
I know that to handle all of my tasks,
I must be willing to do all that God asks.
I must be willing to sacrifice,
To give of myself and to give of my life.
I must be willing to face my fears,
So that I can be a pioneer.
I must be willing to do my best,
And trust that the Lord will do all the rest.

There are many stories in the scriptures of people acting with courage. Among these, I think of the courage of Esther (King James Bible), who saved her people, and of the prophet Nephi in the Book of Mormon, who was willing to “go and do the things that the Lord had commanded” (1Nephi 3:7). I also think about how valiant and courageous Helamen’s young stripling warriors were. In Alma chapter 56, verses 45-48, we read “I say unto you, my beloved brother Moroni, that never had I seen so great courage, nay, not amongst all the Nephities. For as I had ever called them my sons (for they were all of them very young) even so they said unto me: Father, behold our God is with us, and he will not suffer that we should fall; then let us go forth…”
“Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them. And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it” Book of Mormon.

Courage
Sometimes to be courageous means to walk away.
Sometimes courage requires us to stand.
Sometimes to be brave means true forgiveness
Or to love in ways most cannot comprehend.
Sometimes courage can mean that we must endure.
We might be required to finish what we start,
And sometimes courage means we have to flee,
And evermore from wickedness depart.
To have courage will sometimes be risky.
There will often be much we have to lose,
But when there is courage in our actions,
We need not be ashamed of what we choose.

I believe that courage can be displayed in various situations by imperfect people who are valiantly not doing what comes naturally, but who are displaying attributes which are divine. I believe that when people do only what comes naturally, then people are no better than animals. However, since people are not just mere animals, but are spirit children of God, who is our Heavenly Father; that means that when we choose to do what is not natural and we put off the natural man or woman, we are choosing what is divine and we are choosing to take one step closer to God, our Heavenly Father, and we are choosing to progress in our potential to become like Him. In other words, when we choose to do what is not natural, but what is divine, we are choosing to become like God is.

Today I Stood and Faced My Fear
Today I stood and faced my fear,
Even though I wanted to run.
I gave it my best effort,
But today my fear won.
Today I was faced with defeat,
But I left still standing tall,
Because it is better to try and to fail
Than to never have tried at all.

“…For they were not fighting for monarchy nor power but they were fighting for their homes and their liberties, their wives and their children, and their all, yea, for their rites of worship and their church. And they were doing that which they felt was the duty which they owed to their God; for the Lord had said unto them, and also unto their fathers, that: Inasmuch as ye are not guilty of the first offense, neither the second, ye shall not suffer yourselves to be slain by the hands of your enemies. And again, the Lord has said that: ye shall defend your families even unto bloodshed. Therefore for this cause were the Nephites contending with the Lamanites, to defend themselves, and their families, and their lands, their country, and their rights, and their religion” Alma 43: 45-47, Book of Mormon.

Freedom
Our country’s fought a lot for the freedom of all men,
And when the fight is done, it starts all over again.
Some ask if it’s worth it. I tell them “Yes, of course!”
Why without freedom, would life really run its course?
You couldn’t worship who you want or vote for who you choose,
But now, to many, war only matters if we win or lose.
However, I think there is a bigger picture that we all need to see.
Our troops fight for the freedom of others and for the freedom of you and me.
They fight for our liberties and our rights;
They fight to defend the cause of truth and light,
And those brave men and women fight for us, sometimes to the end.
They fight for freedom, a just cause to defend.
This is why we need to realize freedom is worth something more.
Freedom is worth fighting for.

I wrote It is Only through God that We Are Free after I had an encounter with a man who was one of the most Atheist people that I had ever met. He did not believe that God could exist, and if there was a God that existed, he hated God, because of his trials. This man also hated our country. He tried very hard to impose his negative beliefs and attitudes on me. I was a little upset by this man, because he would not listen to reason. He was very prideful and he didn’t seem to care what I was saying to him at all.

Shortly after I had an encounter with this man, I was watching the news, and it was just so depressing. There were so many bad things going on. I was particularly upset with some of the people who were in the government. It seemed liked both sides were just arguing and neither side cared about what was right or just. They only cared about their own agenda. It was clear to me that many of the politicians did not involve God in the government. They cursed His name and degraded it, but if anyone were to say that they believed in God, that person was hated and mocked.

I wrote this poem because I was mad and fearful. I was scared that if our country didn’t have God any more that the events prophesied by the prophets would soon come to pass. I wrote this as a plea to remember God and to trust in Him. I would like to testify that I know that He is real and that He is the author of liberty. I know that it is only through obedience to His commandments that we are able to have freedom from sin. I also know that what I am saying and writing right now is not politically correct, nor will it probably ever be politically correct in my lifetime, but I stand by what I said and what I wrote. I care more about my God than about what people think of me.

Little did the Atheist man realize that when he confronted me about everything that I believed in, he actually encouraged me to believe in God more and to hold to my beliefs more strongly than I did before. Because of my encounter with this man, my testimony of God was strengthened. I am sure this is not at all what the man intended to happen, but I am now very grateful that it happened, because this turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

It is only through God that We are Free
I keep hearing some people say to “Take God away and this land will be more free.
Take Him away. He’s not a part of our rights or our country.
Take Him out of our schools. Take Him out of our pledge.
Take Him off our money,” and now look, the Constitution is on edge.
Oh those foolish people cannot see!
God is the true author of liberty!
We are only free if we have Him. We must be humble. We must pray.
We must repent of our sins and walk the straight and narrow way.
We must turn to His son, Jesus Christ.
We must follow His example and live what is right.
We must turn to our God if we are to make it through.
We must look to Him. Our covenants we must renew.
We have to let Him back into our lives,
Because it is the only way we can survive.
God has proved today as in times of old,
He will only protect those that obey His word.
Prophets have testified and have warned
That real happiness and freedom are only found with the Lord.
Like the prophets, I beg the people of today.
Listen to the Lord and obey.
Please, let God back into the nation and into your hearts.
Please turn to Him in prayer and ask Him not to depart.
Oh, people of this country and people of the world,
Please remember your Creator. Please remember your Lord.
Please remember that He is the one, who gave us our liberty,
And it is only through Him that we can remain free.

In Doctrine & Covenants section 93, we learn of the vision of John “And I, John, saw that he received not of the fullness at the first, but received grace for grace; and he received not of the fullness at first, but continued from grace to grace, until he received a fullness; and thus he was called the Son of God, because he received not of the fullness at first" (Doctrine and Covenants 93: 12-14).

Joseph F. Smith, sixth president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has said concerning that scripture “What a glorious promise is held out to the children of God. … If Jesus Christ, the only begotten of the Father in the flesh, received not a fullness at first, and thereby was called the Son, but continued to receive grace for grace, adding grace unto grace until He received a fullness, it is clear that he [or she] that will walk in His footsteps, who will obey His precepts, and will adopt His plan for life and salvation, may receive grace for grace, may continue from grace to grace; may grow out of imperfection into perfection, and may receive here a little and there a little until [they] shall receive the fullness as the Son of God received a fullness; and thus become like Christ the Son of God, an heir of God, and joint heir with Jesus Christ.”

Baby Steps
Line upon line, precept by precept, here a little and there,
Step by step, day by day, it’s going to get you somewhere.
Then little by little your progress will show,
And then one day you’ll wake up and find out you know
What you’ve been trying to learn.
To go down the road, you must do it turn by turn;
Note by note, brushstroke by brushstroke, each stitch in a grand design
Will one day be a masterpiece, but all masterpieces take time.
It may seem like you’re going nowhere, like no matter how hard you try,
You can’t seem to reach your goals that you’ve set for yourself, so high,
But don’t give up. Just keep trying. Then one day you will see
That these baby steps you’re taking now will one day take you where you need to be.

The Road to Being as Thou Art and many of my other poems hopefully show that I have a desire to serve the Lord and to follow Him. I am far from perfect, but I want the Lord’s way, because I know that the Lord knows better than I do, what is best for me. I have only a limited vision and a limited perspective, but God has a master plan and along His path and His road, I will be able to have greater opportunity for growth. I know that this means that I may have greater trials and hardships, but it also means that I can have greater happiness. It is the Lord’s plan that I desire and it is His plan that I need, so I will put my trust in Him.

“O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed that transgress with cause. Shew me they ways, O Lord: teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation: on thee do I wait all the day” Psalms 25: 2-5, King James Bible.
“And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem” 2 Nephi 12: 3, Book of Mormon.

The Road to Being as Thou Art
I prayed and I got an answer different than what I thought,
So now I’m trying to hold onto what I have been taught.
I’m letting go of all my pride. I’m giving my life to Thee,
And now I’m finding that Thou knows what’s best for me.
I know that Thou sees everything. You know what I should do,
So I’m trying to be faithful, courageous, and true.
I know it can be hard sometimes when the world gets me down,
But I know all things are possible when my trust in Thee abounds.
I’m trying to have an open mind, a soft and humble heart.
Dear Father, please lead me on the road to being as Thou art.
Oh, help me down the road to being as Thou art.

In the Book of Mormon in Mosiah 1: 11 says “And moreover, I shall give this people a name, that thereby they may be distinguished above all the people which the Lord God hath brought out of the land of Jerusalem; and this I do because they have been a diligent people in keeping the commandments of the Lord.”

Then in Mosiah chapter 5, verses 7-9 &11, we continue to learn about the importance of this name, “And now, because of the covenants which ye have made ye shall be called the children of Christ, his sons, and his daughters; for behold, this day he hath spiritually begotten you; for ye say that your hearts are changed through faith on his name; therefore, ye are born of him and have become his sons and his daughters. And under this head yea are made free, and there is no other head whereby ye can be made free. There is no other name given whereby salvation cometh; therefore, I would that ye should take upon you the name of Christ, all you that have entered into the covenant with God that ye should be obedient unto the end of your lives.

And it shall come to pass that whosever doeth this shall be found at the right hand of God, for he shall know the name by which he is called; for he shall be called by the name of Christ. And I would that ye should remember also, that this is the name that I said I should give unto you that never should be blotted out, except it be through transgression; therefore, take heed that ye do not transgress, that the name be not blotted out of your hearts."

What I Have Done with Christ’s Name
I promised my life to my Savior who came.
I promised to repent of my sins.
I have covenanted to take on Christ’s name.
I have covenanted to remember Him.
I promised a long time ago
To follow the light
And declare what I know.
I promised that I would do what is right.
I promised that I would keep God’s commands.
I promised to be humble;
I promised to stand
Strong and valiant in all that I do.
I made a covenant to obey.
I promised to be true.
Now each and every day,
I am working to become
Who I promised I’d be,
And until my life is done,
I’ll keep trying to see
How to best follow God.
I’ll try to stay on the path that’s narrow and straight,
And I’ll keep trying to hold tight to the iron rod,
Because I know someday, I’ll meet Christ at the gate.
He’ll ask me what I have done with His name.
I hope to say “Lord, I have worn thy name well.
Of me thou need not be ashamed.”

I have learned for myself that whether I like it or not, learning to endure and to endure well is a huge part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have a favorite quote from Disney Pixar’s Finding Nemo. Dory said “What do you do? Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming.”

I have to keep going on my life’s journey. I have to keep swimming and never give up.  In the Book of Mormon in 2 Nephi 31: 20 tells us that “Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father, ye shall have eternal life."

Like a Fish in the Water…
Like a fish in the water first trying to swim,
I found I could go nowhere unless I flapped my fins.
Soon I was flapping my fins. I was swimming so naturally.
I was traveling all over. I was happy and free.
Then the currents came along. I got moved from side to side.
I knew that to get where I wanted, I might have to fight the tide,
So I decided to try it. The water was rough.
Swimming got harder as I struggled to go up,
But as I kept on swimming, I finally made it through,
Because I just set my mind on what I needed to do.
It wasn’t always easy. That I truly know,
But it was so worth it when I reached my goal.

I wrote Climbing the Mountain after I had just experienced a big disappointment in my life. I had worked hard to get into a music class, but after an audition, I did not get in. I began to view my life like a mountain, and the trials and challenges in my life as my own personal mountain. I wanted to climb that mountain. I wanted to be able to overcome my trials and what was hard for me. I desperately wanted to conquer the mountain.
We all have our own mountains that we want to climb. Sometimes, we might need the help of others to get over the mountain or mountains, but once we have reached the top, we will be able to see the view, and we can have the assurance that all that we went through was for our good, and despite the difficulty of the climb, what we have gained from our difficulties is worth it.
“And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good. The Son of Man hath descended below them all.

Art thou greater than he?

Therefore, hold on thy way, and the priesthood shall remain with thee; for their bounds are set, they cannot pass. Thy days are known, and thy years shall not be numbered less; therefore, fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever” Doctrine and Covenants 122: 7-9.

Climbing the Mountain
I want to climb the mountain. I want to go up.
I want to see the view when I reach the top.
I want to know that I have climbed so high
That I can almost reach to touch the clouds in the sky.
I know it will be hard. It never is easy
To tackle mountains which are so tall and steep,
But I have to start somewhere, so upwards I must go
Until I reach my destination and see what lies below,
So here it goes; I’m heading up with supplies in my pack.
I must keep moving forward. There can be no looking back.
I don’t know how long this will take.
I may even make a few costly mistakes,
But if I move forward one step at a time,
I can tackle the mountain that I want to climb.
I can’t give up. Never! No way!
Because if I keep moving, I can get there one day.
Then I will have conquered the mountain. I will have made it up,
Where I can see the view and know that I have reached the top.

I wrote Get Up and Finish the Race when I was having a hard time in one of my college classes and I felt my life was a difficult burden. I felt like giving up. I felt defeated and all the confidence that I used to have had long since evaporated. One day as I was feeling sorry for myself and I was just about ready to stop trying, I heard a voice in my head say “Get up. Get up and finish the race. Get up. Get up and finish the race.” I knew that meant that I could not give up, so I tried again. It was hard to try again at first, but after a while I was able to gain a little more confidence to keep going and learn to endure.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the same, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” Hebrews 12: 1-2, King James Bible.

Get up and Finish the Race
I started out so strong, so willing.
I thought I could do anything,
But then I fell over and over again.
Now I wonder why I even try, when I know I won’t win.
My body is bruised and hurting. I have scraped hands and knees.
My heart is filled with sorrow. Tears stream down my cheeks.
My clothes are all dirty. There is mud on my face.
I don’t know why I even started this race.
I feel so defeated. I don’t want to even try,
But I hear a voice inside, so I look up to the sky.
The voice says “Get up. Get up, and try again.
Finish the race and to me, you will win.”

To be able to keep going and to endure well, we will need God’s help and God’s perspective. We will need to know the truth about who we really are, what our purpose on Earth really is and where we are going after this life is over. To be able to know these truths, we will need the Spirit. In chapter 4, verse 13 of Jacob in the Book of Mormon, Jacob tells us that “…the Spirit speaketh the truth and lieth not. Wherefore, it speaketh of things as they really are, and of things as they really will be; wherefore, these things are manifested unto us plainly, for the salvation of our souls. But behold, we are not witnesses alone in these things; for God also spake them unto prophets of old."

Truth
Just as light penetrates through darkness,
Truth will overcome all lies.
Truth will always be eternal.
It will not change as the days go by.
Truth is knowledge. Truth is wisdom.
Truth is learning. Truth is light.
Truth reveals what once was hidden,
And it will give us sight.
Truths are given by the Spirit
Who testifies and leads the way,
And these truths that we are blessed with
Help us not to go astray.
Truth will stand and will not falter.
It will always prevail.
Truth will deliver us from bondage
And through it we cannot fail.
Truth is constant and unwavering.
It will give us liberty,
And when truth is girded about us,
We are able to be set free.

Another truth that I have learned by the Spirit and with great effort and struggle on my part is that we are never alone. I am never alone. God has not forsaken us or left us comfortless, nor will He ever. Isaiah spoke the Lord’s words when he said “For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. For the mountains shall depart and the hills shall be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peach be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee” Isaiah 54: 7-8 & 10, King James Bible.

You Are Not Alone
I’m out in the world. I don’t know what to do.
I feel scared and helpless.
Then I look to you,
And I am no longer defenseless.
You tell me: You are not alone.
I will watch over you on all days.
You are not on your own.
I’ll be there for you, always;
Just let me into your life,
And I’ll guide you down the path back home.
I’ll be there for you in happiness and strife,
Because remember, child, you are not alone.
Come unto me, have faith, and repent;
Follow me and the example I sent.
Listen to the Holy Spirit. He will testify of truth and light.
Pray unto the Father in my name.
Listen for answers for those things that you pray,
But please, try to remember to avoid saying these prayers in vain.
Try to be kind and think about the things you say.
Read the scriptures and follow the good things they teach.
Be a good example and help your fellow men.
Follow the prophets. Listen to the words they speak.
Live worthily and do those things that you would do when I am to come again.
Above all, gain a testimony and believe.
Remember you won’t be on your own.
My arms will be outstretched through all your trials and needs.
Remember, child, you are not alone.

At times in my life, in addition to my struggles to finding out that I was not alone and that the Lord is always with me, I have been occasionally bogged down with feelings of inadequacy and low self worth. I often feel like such an ordinary person. I wonder how someone like me can ever make a difference, but Elder David A. Bednar, a member of the quorum of the twelve apostles, has said that “Ordinary people who faithfully, diligently, and consistently do simple things that are right before the Lord will bring forth extraordinary results” (General Women’s Conference, May 4th, 2011) and I believe that this poem shows my testimony of this statement.

“For all have not every gift given unto them; for there are many gifts, and to every man is given a gift by the Spirit of God. To some is given one, and to some is given another, that all may be profited thereby” Doctrine and Covenants 46: 11-12.

Ordinary
I may be ordinary, but I am of worth.
I have a purpose and potential here upon the Earth.
I have talents unique to me.
I know I can be who God meant me to be.
I know I will make mistakes, but it is all part of God’s plan
For me to learn and grow and gain experience to become more like Him.
I know I am not perfect. Sometimes I still sin,
But I keep trying to repent and to be better than I am,
Because I know if I keep trying to be like Christ every day,
I can share my little light in my ordinary way.
I can give the world the very best that I have got;
Even though it’s small and simple, it can change a lot.

The Lord uses the weak things of the world to bring to pass His mighty works (Doctrine &Covenants 1: 19 & D&C 35: 13). To many people of the world, the young missionaries might seem to be weak and small, but God knows what they are capable of and God knows that He can bring to pass a mighty and great work that will confound the wise, through those who are seemingly weak and small.

I think often about missionaries, especially my cousins and my three siblings who have served missions or are currently serving missions. I often pray for them and the people that they are teaching and I ask the Lord to bless them and I know that He has promised that He will.
In Doctrine & Covenants section 21, verse 9, it says “For, behold, I will bless all those who labor in my vineyard with a mighty blessing, and they shall believe on his words, which are given him through me by the Comforter, which manifesteth that Jesus was crucified by sinful men for the sins of the world, yea, for the remission of sins unto the contrite heart.”

Please Father, Bless and Care for the Missionaries
As they serve the Lord, truth is told
From missionaries around the world.
These are people of God. They give their all
To be their best, to exemplify their calls.
They love their God. They follow Christ.
They share the gospel. They teach what’s right.
They are instruments in God’s hands.
They inspire me to be all that I am.
Father, I pray as they do thy will,
Wilt Thou honor their sacrifices still?
Will Thou bless them and help them through their trials?
Wilt Thou make them strong as they walk all those miles?
Please Father, bless those that they teach.
Please help them to know of the truth that they speak.
Please soften their hearts; please open their minds.
Please guide us and them down the path ‘till we are refined.
I know, Father, that you love your servants, and their families,
So please, Father, bless and care for the missionaries.

In addition to praying for the missionaries, we also have the ability to pray to God for ourselves and our families, our lives, our homes, our occupations, about our crops and our animals, everything, and if we pray with sincerity and have faith, God will bless us and bring to pass great things in our lives. He can even give comfort and peace to our souls when they are troubled or when we are afraid.

“Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you today… The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace” Exodus 14: 13-14, King James Bible.

The Lord himself also reminds us that “Behold, ye are little children and ye cannot bear all things now; ye must grow in grace and in the knowledge of the truth. Fear not, little children, for you are mine, and I have overcome the world, and you are of them that my Father hath given me; and none of them that my Father hath given me shall be lost” Doctrine and Covenants 50: 41-42.

“…All flesh is in my hands; be still and know that I am God” Doctrine and Covenants 101: 16.
Be Still and Know that I Am God
Oh, there are so many things in this world that are so bad.
There are so many things that make me hurt and sad.
I constantly wonder when this evil will end.
I anxiously await for the day my Savior will come and for the peace that He will send.
Oh, how wonderful it will be when He will come again!
How great it will be when the world will be rid of all this sin!
What peace there will be when Jesus comes again!
Then the Spirit whispers: “My child, have faith and stay strong.
Your afflictions shall be but a small moment, and then your troubles will be gone.
Continue to press forward and you can accomplish these tasks.
Keep doing all that the Father asks.
Remember I am here,
So please do not fear.
I know all your trials and pains; I have suffered it all.
I took upon the sins of the world, but glory be to the Father, for I have done His will.
Stay on the straight and narrow, and keep hold to the rod,

And now my dear, child, be still, and know that I am God.
